(The Mindful Way Through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness (Book &)
If you’ve ever struggled with depression, take heart. Mindfulness, a simple yet powerful way of paying attention to your most difficult emotions and life experiences, can help you break the cycle of chronic unhappiness once and for all. In The Mindful Way through Depression, four uniquely qualified experts explain why our usual attempts to “think” our way out of a bad mood or just “snap out of it” lead us deeper into the downward spiral. Through insightful lessons drawn from both Eastern meditative traditions and cognitive therapy, they demonstrate how to sidestep the mental habits that lead to despair, including rumination and self-blame, so you can face life’s challenges with greater resilience. Jon Kabat-Zinn gently and encouragingly narrates the accompanying CD of guided meditations, making this a complete package for anyone seeking to regain a sense of hope and well-being.

A Guided Meditation to Help Relieve Depression- Guided Imagery to Reduce Negative Thinking, Self-Criticism, Discouragement, and Improve Mood, Hope, Sense of Well Being

(A Guided Meditation to Help Relieve Depression- Guided Imagery to Reduce Negative Thinking, Self-Criticism, Discouragement, and Improve Mood, Hope, Sense of Well)
This depression meditation reduces depressive symptoms - negative thinking, loss of energy, excessive self-criticalness, general discouragement, lack of motivation and loss of hope - and improves quality of life and sense of well-being. The guided imagery for depression can be used as a stand-alone therapy or an adjunctive treatment alongside more traditional approaches of psychotherapy and/or medication. It has even been found helpful to people dealing with bipolar illness. Guided imagery is a holistic, mind-body technique that consists of healing words and hypnotic images, set to soothing music, to help with treating depression naturally. Repeated listening once or twice a day for 2-3 weeks ensures maximum impact. A separate track of affirmations shows how to relax in a briefer format, with positive statements designed for listening on the go or even while driving. Written and narrated by noted mind-body, holistic health pioneer Belleruth Naparstek and scored to the exquisite, immersive music of Steven Mark Kohn. The soothing, hypnotic narrative invites imagery of the heavy fog of depression lifting, as tamped down energy is liberated and released, so that you can reunite with your own inner strength and again feel hope, love, motivation and possibility. For those who wish to t...

Depression Cherry

 (Depression Cherry)
Beach House is Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally. We have been a band for over a decade, living and working in Baltimore, MD. Depression Cherry is our 5th full-length record. This record follows the release of our self-titled album in 2006, Devotion in 2008, Teen Dream in 2010 and Bloom in 2012. Depression Cherry was recorded at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana from November ’14 through January ’15. This time period crossed the anniversaries of both John Lennon’s and Roy Orbison’s death. In general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role. With the growing success of Teen Dream and Bloom, the larger stages and bigger rooms naturally drove us towards a louder, more aggressive place; a place farther from our natural tendencies. Here, we continue to let ourselves evolve while fully ignoring the commercial context in which we exist. Here are a few quotes that we feel relate to the feeling and themes of this record: — "I’ll never be able to be here again. As the minutes slide by, I move on. The flow of time is something I cannot stop. I haven’t a choice. I go. One caravan has stopped, another starts up. There are people I have yet to meet, others I’ll nev...

The Great Depression

 (The Great Depression)
As It Is’ new 12-track concept album, entitled The Great Depression, tackes themes of mental health and societal decline in the era of social media. The album's lyrical narrative drawing parallels between the Great Depression of the 1930s and the state of the world today. The Great Depression album title is partly a reference to the historical period, partly a comment on modern pop culture’s fixation on / obsession with sensationalized bad news, and partly a reference to the societal quagmire we are living in today, everyone buried in their smartphones, worshipping only the self.

Post Pop Depression

 (Post Pop Depression)
'A lot of geezers my age don't work out of their comfort zone anymore because once you become legendary you don't want people challenging you.' - Iggy PopPost Pop Depression, the 17th Iggy Pop album, and a worthy addition to the 22 album legacy spawned with the immortal trilogy of The Stooges, Fun House and Raw Power, spanning massively influential solo outings including 1977's opening 1-2 combo of The Idiot and Lust For Life, and 1990's gold-certified Brick By Brick. The first Iggy Pop album co-created with producer Homme, Post Pop Depression began with a succinctly worded text from Iggy to Joshua, and was realized in seclusion with Homme's enlisted aid of his Queens Of The Stone Age bandmate and Dead Weather-man Dean Fertitia and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. Post Pop Depression is a singular work that stands proudly alongside the best works of either of its principles, from The Stooges to Queens Of The Stone Age, bearing its creators' undeniable sonic DNA while sounding like nothing they've done before. It's a record that wouldn't exist without either Pop or Homme-and one that probably shouldn't in theory if you really think about it-but it does, and we and rock n roll are all the better for it.
